Based on the true story of the Wyoming State Penitentiary All-Stars prison baseball team, the film follows the team of convicts through four key games played over the course of the 1911 season as they face existential penances for their crimes. As rumors circulate about the team members being promised commutations on their sentences as a means to abet the supposed gambling of state officials, with the star player's execution date drawing near, tensions ramp high. As Warden Alston, who founded the all-stars as part of a noble initiative to institute prison reform, faces outside threats to his venture upon allegations of illegal gambling--extending as far up as the governor's office, we're also given flashbacks of how the convicts wound up in the situation they are in now...
